1966 - 1979
WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
On a green field, Kabel- und Metallwerke Neumeyer (Cable and Metalworks) built a production site in Floss to manufacture wires and small wire harnesses for household appliances, computers, and agricultural vehicles. That is how WE started.
Soon BMW, Ford, and Porsche were among the first customers in the automotive industry, with others soon joining them. Since 1973, we have been serving our customers independently from our base in Floss.

1980 - 1989
FRENCH PARENT AND A BOOMING BUSINESS FIELD
Under the name kabelmetal electro, product division of vehicle electrics, we entered a new era as part of a French technology enterprise. Our identity remained the same, despite the name change.
Our main products: wiring harnesses, wiring and injection plugs for the automobile industry. Connector components for the newly introduced ABS as standard equipment strengthened our position in vehicle safety.

1990 - 1999
TURNING POINT AND SYSTEMS SUPPLIER
The name says it all
Our independence was now formally reflected to the outside: The vehicle electrics product division became ke autoelectric GmbH and shortly after Alcatel autoelectric GmbH.
We grow internationally and establish ourselves as a systems supplier
The political upheaval in Eastern Europe brought new opportunities and challenges. To remain competitive, we established new production sites in Eastern and Southeastern Europe.
We increasingly assumed more responsibility from our customers and established ourselves as a systems supplier, creating important prerequisites for our growth.
1996 marks the end of an era:
Founding Managing Director Klaus Gärtner retired.
With Dr. Wolfgang Scheideler and Andreas Wolf, experienced managing personalities took over the reins and strengthened the course of the company.

2000 - 2009
GLOBAL EXPANSION AND PIONEERING WORK IN E-MOBILITY
New parent company
The restructuring of Alcatel led to the formation of the Nexans Group in 2000. Alcatel autoelectric became Nexans autoelectric – and we remained part of a leading global technology corporation.
New countries
In 2001, we founded autoelectric of America in Texas and entered the important American market. At the same time, the Nexans autoelectric Group expanded with new sites in Europe, North Africa, and Mexico to meet growing demand.
New mobility
In 2005, Nexans autoelectric developed a patented high-voltage cabling system for electric and hybrid vehicles. As early as 2007, we equipped the first electric test vehicle, which hit the roads worldwide a year later – a milestone in the electrification of mobility.

2010 - 2019
PROCESS INNOVATIONS, MARKET EXPANSION, AND KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER
We set standards for automated processes
Nexans autoelectric developed new automated manufacturing processes. This significantly reduced production times and increased process reliability, quickly making us a market leader.
Growing markets and new opportunities
Electromobility is gaining momentum: With several serial orders for electric and hybrid vehicles, we expanded our field of business. At the same time, major orders for engine wiring harnesses were driving strong capacity growth. In 2011, we gained access to the emerging Asian market with the founding of Nexans autoelectric Tianjin.
Cooperation with science and academia
Since 2012 we have been sponsoring Amberg-Weiden University of Applied Sciences as a Partner Circle member. In addition, together with other industry leaders, we initiated the first German Master’s program for vehicle electrical systems at Landshut University of Applied Sciences – a forward-looking investment in the training of new talent.

2020 - heute
CRISIS-RESISTANT AND FUTURE-PROOF
Strength in times of crisis
We master challenges, such as those that were posed by Covid and worldwide supply shortages, through successful crisis management. In 2021, we were already achieving a turnover that exceeded the pre-coronavirus levels – a testament to our stability and adaptability.
New business areas and innovations
With a major order for customized vehicle electrical systems, we are entering a new segment in Europe: Nexans autoelectric will be the exclusive supplier for the sports e-models of a German premium manufacturer. This won’t be the only order.
Focus on sustainability and efficiency
In innovation projects, we work on sustainable design processes and manufacturing methods. Our aim: Today an innovation project, tomorrow Nexans autoelectric for the mobility of the future.

THE NEXT GENERATION
FIT FOR THE FUTURE
May it be fully electric, hybrid or autonomous – we bring innovations to the road. With a strong team, smart technologies, and a constantly evolving portfolio, we’re shaping the mobility of tomorrow. Nexans autoelectric stays on the move – and sets new standards for the future.
